Coronavirus Update #17 – Updated 3/30/2020
MARLBORO TOWNSHIP MUNCIPAL OFFICES
Dear Resident,
Governor Murphy issued Executive Order #107 that, in effect, orders most residents to stay home. Along with grocery stores, pharmacies, medical services, and restaurants, Government Offices are considered essential. Mindful of our employees’ health and safety, most departments are on staggered schedules and working from home whenever possible. When in Town Hall employees are practicing social distancing and following CDC guidelines. To protect residents and employees, all Town Hall Municipal Offices will continue to be CLOSED to the public until further notice. However, every Department is staffed and can be reached by phone or email.
All non-essential Township meetings and programs have been cancelled or postponed until at least April 17. Please check the Township calendar for updates.
The following details information pertaining to Marlboro Services:
- Marlboro Division of Police – The Police Department is open 24/7 and can be reached at 732- 536-0100. Please not call the police for updates regarding COVID-19. They do not have information above what is available on our website and it is vital that their lines be accessible for emergency calls. Emergencies, of course, dial 9-1-1.
- In response to the concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, Chief Peter Pezzullo is advising the public that every effort is being taken to maintain police services to our residents. The community should be aware that some changes have been implemented by the police department for providing emergency services and maintaining the safety of all first responders. Call takers for the police department have been instructed to ask standardized pre-arrival screening questions to better identify how the police department should respond to the request for service.
- For police requests of a non-emergent nature such as thefts, criminal mischief, harassment complaints, etc., citizens are urged to file an online police report through the police department’s website and linked HERE.
- Commuter Parking Permit – The deadline for parking permit renewals, normally due by March 31, has been extended to April 30, 2020. Residents with current permits are encouraged to return your renewal by mail as soon as possible. The drop box in Town Hall is accessible. Please place items in and envelope and mark ‘Clerk’ on the outside. For your safety, please do not deposit cash. Direct questions to

- Curbside Collections –BAGGED ONLY leaf collection is underway by zone. At this time leaves piled curbside or brush will NOT be collected. Those placing Bagged leaves should be placed on your property and not the street to prevent flooding and to keep the streets clear for pedestrians. Landscapers or residents placing debris for collection in an unauthorized manner shall be required to remove the waste from the public right of way.
- Brush and leaves are accepted at the Township Recycling Center throughout the year, free of charge. The hours of the Recycling Center are Monday and Wednesday 8:00-1:30 and Saturday 8:00-4:00.
- The collection schedule is detailed in the Recycling Calendar mailed to your home and here. Any changes to service relative to the state of emergency will be communicated through normal channels.
- Township Recycle Yard - The yard will be opened for cardboard, comingled paper, electronics, brush and leaves only. No bulk trash items of any kind will be accepted. In order to ensure the safety of our employees and adhere to the CDC‘s requirement of “social distancing”, Township staff will not be able to assist you with placing your items in any of our containers, and we may need to limit the amount of cars in the site at one time. Recycling guidelines and hours can be found on page 10 of the Recycling Calendar and HERE.
- Township Bulk Curbside Pickup – Spring Curbside Bulk collection will happen…the question is when. The Town has a contract for this service, and the contractor is checking with the appropriate authorities and its legal people as to whether or not they can do the job at this time. We will have more information shortly and we will share through official government communication shortly. Either way, we remain committed to delivering the service once the restrictions are relaxed.
- Marlboro Parks –The parks are open for what we call “passive recreation”, but playgrounds and courts are closed and have been roped off to restrict access. Team sports and field games which encourage close contact are prohibited.
- Court – The New Jersey Court system has extended the suspension through April 26. Individuals scheduled to appear before the Municipal Court to contest a traffic or parking ticket, or minor local ordinance violation, should not appear and await notice of a new court date. Defendants may continue to make payments for parking and traffic matters through the municipal court’s online payment website at NJMCdirect.com .
Please note that as the situation evolves, this is subject to change. We will update our residents as additional guidance and possible further restrictions are put into place by the State in order to ensure the health and safety of the public. I will continue to keep you up to date.
