STORM UPDATE #1
July 23, 2019 – 10:30am
Dear Residents,
Last night, a fast moving storm with high winds moved through our area bringing with it downed trees, power lines, power outages, internet interruptions and road closures. The Township disseminated timely information to residents using social media and Police Swift 911 calls. Please visit http://www.marlboro-nj.gov/resident-communications.html to register for any or all of our communication options.
JCP&L is reporting widespread power outages of 100,000 homes in Monmouth County with 7,800 homes in Marlboro still without power; a reduction from last night. It is important that you report your outage to JCP&L as it allows them to isolate outages and repair more quickly. Call them at 888-544-4877 or on-line. Assume all downed wires are live and dangerous and report to the Marlboro Police immediately.
At this time, please note that the following roads are closed and traffic lights out:
- ROADS CLOSED: School Road East by Bella Vista CC, Route 520 by Crine Road, Tennent Road at Wooleytown and Greenwood, Conover Road by the Methodist Church, and Nolan Road between Dover and Yorkshire.
- STOP LIGHTS OUT with stop signs in place at Route 520 and Tennent, Union Hill Road and Tennent, Ryan and Robertsville, 520 and Gordons Corner and 520 and Wyncrest.
Town Hall is fully open and is operating as a charging and cooling station. Phone service is inconsistent, but all internet operations are functioning. A list of township email addresses can be found HERE.
The Office of Emergency Management reminds residents that debris may not be placed in the roadway or in any Town right-of-way. It causes flooding and is a hazard to pedestrians and motor vehicles.
The Police can be contacted at 732-536-0100. Emergencies dial 911. Please do not contact the Police to ask about power outage restoration times. They do not have access to that information, and it is imperative that their lines stay open for emergencies.
We will continue to update you as more information is available. Please drive cautiously and stay off the roads if possible. Again, Town Hall is open as a charging and a cooling station until further notice.
Stay safe,
Mayor Jon Hornik
