Weekend Update
Dear Resident,
Thank you all for coming out to celebrate our 38th Annual Marlboro Day last weekend. It was wonderful to spend time together as a community, celebrating all of what makes Marlboro such a special place to live. I wanted to take this time to thank all of the businesses that sponsored this event, and all of the employees of the Township that made this event possible.
The Marlboro Farmers Market is open this Sunday, September 4 from 9am to 1pm. Learn more on the website and social media pages.
UPCOMING EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
Monmouth County Paper Shredding Event – on Saturday September 24, Monmouth County will be holding a paper shredding event at the Marlboro Municipal Complex from 9am to 1 pm (or until the truck is full). County residents are welcome to shred up to 100lbs of paper.
Brush Only Pickup – Fall brush only pick up will begin the first week of October. For the schedule by zone, for more details please view the letter posted to the Township Website HERE.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Domestic Violence Response Volunteers (DVRT) – The Marlboro Police Department is seeking volunteers to serve on the DVRT. Training begins later this fall. In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Marlboro Police Department continues to make this free, 24/7 confidential service available to victims of domestic violence in the aftermath of a highly emotional and traumatic experience. 180’s volunteer DVRT Advocates are civilian members of the community who work collaboratively with law enforcement to provide support, information, and resources to victims of domestic violence at police headquarters. Economic Development Committee (EDC) - The EDC supports local businesses through events, Shop Marlboro program and ribbon cuttings. Time commitment is 2-3 hours a month. The Marlboro EDC is looking for volunteers who have some or all of the following specialized skills: strong written and verbal communication skills, Social Media expertise, Graphic Design, Commitment to attend evening team meetings approx. every three weeks and participate in key initiatives (mostly weekends, such as New Business Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies, Marlboro Day, etc.) Want to learn more? First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills. Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program. PUBLIC SAFETY
Take the Safety Pledge – As we head back to school and activities, it is important to make sure that we have taken the steps to keep our homes and belongings safe. If you have not yet taken the pledge, click HERE for QR codes to set up and account and request the pledge lawn sign. Don’t let your guard down! Continue to lock your car, remove your key fob and keep valuables that are left in your car out of sight. The 'See Something, Say Something and We Will Do Something' initiative continues to be effective and I thank all residents for your support and cooperation. Please do not hesitate. COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program. Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
