Weekend Update
Dear Resident,
I hope everyone had a meaningful Thanksgiving with family and friends. We enjoyed a long, relatively warm fall but meteorological winter began on December 1, the three months of the year when temperatures are expected to be the coldest. Please take a moment to review the NJ OEM Winter Safety website to ensure your family and home are prepared.
Our annual Winter Holiday Lighting was held Wednesday night and hundreds of residents enjoyed stories of Hanukkah, Diwali and Christmas. The real Santa stopped by with Mrs. Claus and Elf and took pictures with excited children in his Winter Wonderland. Ms. Dreidel was on hand for selfies. Our dessert buffet is always a treat. Many thanks to our sponsors: Wegmans, Chartwells, Whole Foods, Food Emporium, Costco, Asian Food Market, Shop Rite and Chick-Fil-A. They are terrific community partners and we could not do this without them.
If you did not get a chance to drop off your wish list to Santa at the Holiday Lighting, he has agreed to place a special Santa Express mailbox in front of the Recreation Building. Drop off your letter with a self-addressed, stamped envelope no later than December 17 to ensure a timely response from Santa. See FLYER for details.

Porch Pirates – Don’t let Porch Pirates get to your deliveries before you do. Here are some tips to prevent theft of your holiday packages: Prevent Package Thefts
Vacation Safety – Add safety to your packing list. Register for a free police security check to request extra patrols while you are away. Request this service by reading the WAIVER FORM and completing the REQUEST FOR SECURITY CHECK. Be social media savvy. Don’t post requests that give away your schedule and wait until you are home to post pictures of your vacation. Arrange for packages to be delayed, delivered elsewhere or collected by a neighbor and do the same for mail.
Safety Update – Please remember to lock your car doors, take the key fobs inside, remove garage door openers, lock your doors and set alarms. If you have not yet done so request an ‘I Took the Pledge’ lawn sign and download the ‘Neighbors’ app. To read more about how we, as a community, are working together to keep our home and property safe, click HERE.
PROGRAMS AND EVENTS
Multi-Cultural Day – Our 13th annual Multi-Cultural Day will be held Sunday, December 4 from 1-5pm at Marlboro High School. This free event features performances, music, and cultural displays for all ages. See FLYER for more.
Winter Break Recreation Programs - Winter break mini-camps registration is underway. Art camp, LEGO, Robotics. Inspiration Basketball League for children with special needs coming in January, 2023. NOTICES
Leaf Collection – Public Works is currently collecting piled leaves in zones 3 and 5. Collection in zones 2 and 4 will begin next week. We remind residents that it takes DPW approximately one week to collect all the leaves in each set of zones, but once they pass they do not return and leaves must be removed by a private contractor, taken to the recycling center or placed in biodegradable paper bags for collection (see below). Information has been sent via email and is posted on top of the Township website and linked HERE. Please review the letter, follow the schedule and regulations to ensure our streets stay safe and clean. We ask that you ensure that leaves are not placed near storm drains so that water can run freely and prevent flooding. We appreciate your cooperation.
Leaf Bag Pickup –Place leaves in biodegradable paper bags for collection when the piled collection is complete. Zones 1, 8, 6 & 7 will be the week of December 19. Zones 3, 5, 2 & 4 will be collected the week of December 26. The Township provides 25 leaf bags to every home at no charge. Simply complete the SDL form HERE and bring the emailed permit with you to DPW Monday to Friday from 7am to 2:30 pm. Please note that there will be another bagged leaf collection to coincide with Christmas Tree collection in January.

Affordable Housing and Rent Control Board – The AHA is charged with implementing policies and goals of the Township’s Affordable Housing ordinance. The AHA works with the administrative agent and the AHA attorney to ensure compliance. Meetings are held monthly on a Tuesday evening. To learn more, please complete the CSA Form HERE.
First Aid Squads Need You! Give back to your community and learn invaluable life skills. Marlboro and Morganville First Aid Squads offer free EMT certification and driver training to recruits, and active membership also qualifies volunteers for discounts on various Township fees and memberships and an annual contribution towards an individual retirement-type program. ANNOUNCEMENTS
ANCHOR Program (Date Extended!) – This replaces the Homestead Benefits program and provides property tax relief to NJ residents who owned or rented their principal residence and meet the income requirements. Filing deadline is now January 31, 2023 and renters whose units are under a PILOT agreement are now eligible. For more, visit the state website HERE.
COVID-19 Ratepayer Relief Measures –Measures are in place to provide relief to ratepayers experiencing economic hardship during the COVID-19 pandemic. The NJ Department of Community Affairs has developed a low income household water assistance program. Please review the letter from the Marlboro Water Utility HERE.
