Weekend Update – Mother’s Day Edition
Dear Resident,
As we celebrate Mother’s Day this Sunday, I thank our Marlboro moms for all you do for our families and our community. We would not be where we are without you.
A reminder that no bulk pick up is scheduled the week following Mother’s Day to ensure that our streets have plenty of parking for guests and are safe for vehicles and pedestrians. Please do not place items curbside more than one week prior to your first scheduled day. Details are below.
Please save the date for ‘Marlboro Parks Rock’ on May 21. Scheduled to coincide with National Kid to Parks Day, we will begin the day with Rock Painting (free, but registration required) and a ribbon cutting to dedicate our new walking trail exercise equipment. Residents are invited to spend the afternoon visiting our many parks and leaving your decorated rock behind to spread messages of kindness. More on this event under ‘Programs and Events’.
Please see below for more.
PUBLIC SAFETY
Last Friday, I, along with Chief Pezzullo, police officers and local officials, welcomed Governor Phil Murphy, State Acting Attorney General Platkin, Lt. Col. Frage, and PBA VP Marc Kovar to Marlboro for an announcement directly aimed at combatting suburban auto thefts. Ten million dollars in American Rescue Funds will be dedicated for the purchase of advanced license plate readers throughout the state. I am very pleased to announce that the vehicle pursuit for stolen vehicles removed by the prior AG will be reinstated. I am grateful that our concerns were heard and acknowledged and that swift action was taken. Government came together to make this change and I thank everyone involved for their contribution.
Across the state, virtually every car stolen was left unlocked with the key fob inside. One sentiment was shared by everyone at the podium: Lock your cars. Take your fob with you. Together, we fight auto theft.

Marlboro Police Arrest 5 - Thursday morning at about 9am, a resident called 911 to report suspicious activity at a local business. Police were immediately dispatched and, after investigation by the Patrol Division and follow-up by the Detective Bureau, it was determined that the suspects were driving a stolen vehicle and five individuals were arrested and charged. I want to commend the Marlboro Township Police Department for their quick action and I thank the resident for immediately calling 911. The 'See Something, Say Something and We Will Do Something' initiative was successful once again and I thank all residents for your support and cooperation. Please do not hesitate. If you see something suspicious or out of place, call the police.

Bulk Collection/Spring Cleanup and Brush Collection – The annual bulk collection began on April 25 and will continue by zone. Please review Brush and Bulk Update #3 HERE to ensure that Marlboro streets stay clean and safe for vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians.
Selling Your Home? As we enter the busy season for home sales, help make the CCO process a breeze. Before you put your home on the market, check that permits have been filed and closed for items such as finished basements, sheds, decks, raised patios and gazebos as this is required before a CCO can be issued. Please call the Building Department at 732 536-0200 ext. 1800 to review. Spring and summer are busy times for home sales and CCO inspections are currently being scheduled approximately three weeks after submission as long as all permits are filed/closed and this will increase as the selling season picks up. Please plan accordingly when you start the process of selling your home. Thank you for your cooperation.
Zoning Office Message on Property Maintenance – As we enter spring and begin cleanup, the Zoning Office details code requirements for property maintenance and how to report a vacant home in your neighborhood before it becomes unsightly. Please see the Zoning letter HERE.
Pothole Portal – The portal is on the home page of the website ‘Quick Links & Actions’ and HERE. Only one Marlboro SDL account is needed for all on-line services. This efficient method of reporting allows our residents who drive our streets every day to direct resources where they are needed.
