WINTER STORM ORLENA – Update #6
Dear Resident,
Some might say we have been living Groundhog day for a year but today, on official Groundhog Day, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow and has predicted 6 more weeks of Winter. Locally, we are still under a Winter Storm Warning until 4pm and more snow is predicted.
Since the storm began, State Troopers attended 743 accidents and responded to 1,362 motorist aid calls. We are asking that, if at all possible, that you stay off the roads allowing road crews to do their job. If you must travel, find current roads conditions at @NewJerseyDOT, facebook.com, NewJerseyDOT and at 511nj.gov. Please leave extra time, give snow plows a wide berth.
The Marlboro Department of Public Works has been clearing snow non-stop since the storm began. It is important to note that we have more than 200 miles of road and it takes DPW 10 hours to clear each 4 inches of snow from the roadway. With winds blowing at the same time the snow was falling heavily will blow the snow back onto the roadway and can appear as if the plows have not have not plowed your street. It is important to note that the plows clear from main roads to collector streets and then to interior development roadways. Please have patience as our crews address the biggest storm our state has experienced in many years.
The state vaccine mega-sites remain closed today and those with appointment will be contacted to reschedule. The State COVID call center is open and can be reached at 855-568-0545. Please note that they are not scheduling new appoints until the storm’s impact has been assessed. MORE.
The Monmouth County vaccine clinics scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 2 at Brookdale Community College and the County's Agriculture Building will open at 1 pm. Those with a scheduled appointment will be notified by the county. For more on the county vaccination sites click HERE.
The Marlboro Division of Police are available 24/7 and can be reached at 732-536-0100. Please do not call the police for snow or plowing updates. They do not have additional information and it is vital that their lines stay open for emergencies. As always if you have an emergency, dial 911 and we will get to you.
Please see the prior storm updates linked below for recycling schedule changes and other storm updates.
