Tax Relief Programs

Shop Marlboro: To participate in the program, register a Shop Marlboro card (available at Township Administration) online at www.propertytaxcard.com/shopmarlboro. Shop Marlboro Cards can be in the Administration Office at Town Hall. Receive property tax incentives by shopping at participating stores in Marlboro. Credits are applied to your property taxes once per year in the 3rd quarter (due August 1). Please visit www.propertytaxcard.com or call 732-946-0919 for more information.

Senior Citizens or Disabled or Surviving Spouse Annual Tax Deduction: Annual deduction of $250 is available for Senior Citizens/Disabled/Surviving Spouse applicants who qualify based on residence and income limitations. ANCHOR Program

The State of NJ has replaced the Homestead Benefit program with Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR). Payments will be issued directly to qualified applicants in the form of direct deposit or check. This program provides property tax relief to NJ residents who owned or rented their principal residence and meet the income requirements. Property Tax Reimbursement Program (PTR) or Senior Freeze

Applicants are required to submit to the State proof of the amount of property taxes that were due and paid along with the applications. This can be accomplished by either one of the following ways:

  • The Division of Taxation will accept copies of the tax bills for the requested year(s) along with copies of cancelled checks or receipts for the taxes paid for those years.
  • Alternatively, a verification form is provided with the PTR application. This form can be completed by a Certified Tax Collector.

Verification forms can be delivered to the Tax Collector’s office (1979 Township Drive, Marlboro, NJ 07746) by mail, in person, or left in the 24-hour drop box (located inside the vestibule of Town Hall). If you would like the completed form mailed back to you, please provide a self-addressed stamped envelope or, if you prefer to pick up the form once it is completed, please indicate same and provide your telephone number.

No personal identifying information other than name and address is required to be included in the submission to the Tax Office, and residents are encouraged to leave only the form, rather than the entire application booklet. While the form does ask for the applicants’ social security numbers, we neither require nor ask the resident to provide that when submitting the form to the Tax Collector’s office for completion. This information can be filled in after the form is completed by the Tax Collector and prior to mailing to the State. The Tax Office processes the verification forms as expeditiously as possible, and they are typically completed within two business days.
